These funny shaped balloons can be found in public places in Bandung, Indonesia such as the Gasibu field on Sunday morning.

A monkey was asking for money from spectators after performing a “Topeng Monyet” show. This traditional performance once was almost extinct but lately I’ve seen some of them performing on public parks around Bandung. Glad to see some people are actually preserving the tradition and the performance itself has always been very amusing, especially for […]

This is a simple racing game which have been played by many people in Indonesia. Yet such a physical game can easily go wrong. I usually got bruises or cuts on my feet. But on October 2007 my friend Hera got a worse injury, a dislocated elbow. It must’ve been hurt so bad. People are […]

It has been a month since I started using film and I haven’t really learn to develop my own film. As a result, I haven’t used my Tri-x and whatever I’ve already shot on film have to wait until I have the time to bring it over to the nearest lab. Right now, I have a roll of Kodak Elite Chrome waiting for me to deliver it to, guess where, Jakarta. That’s right, according to Budi none of the labs in Bandung are available for developing slide film. I guess it could’ve been worse. They could have stopped selling films. Wait. Actually some of them have been cutting down their film stocks. Life just couldn’t get anymore tougher for us who still shooting film. No complain here though. I just want to apologize for the lack of photo update from me. And since among my latest photos this photo of a man resting on a stair on Bandung Train Station somehow got the most attention on Flickr I decided to post it here. Ah, those were the good old days.

These series can tell you a bit of what I usually did on a typical weekend. Bring my camera. Take the public transport. Enjoy a nice meal. Admire the beautiful sky and clouds. Walk on the streets of Bandung. Find some funny things to laugh at. Take some pictures. And then I realized that the day got darker and my weekend will be over soon.

Memories are invaluable in one’s life. But one forgets as easily as one remembers. Photography can help extend people’s memories to some degree. It triggers the mind and bring back the good old times. In a way, it remembers moments. That is what I feel when I saw thousands of photos I took last year. It feels like being at that time seeing the same scene again. Like remembering Bandung as I see it before.

These are my attempt at interpreting Horst Hamann’s Paris Vertical. I rarely take pictures in vertical format but I can say that I enjoy this.

Only nine days from the beginning of this month, I have purchased two good and inspiring book about photography. I can tell you that it’s hard and rare to find a good photography book in Bandung unless you buy it somewhere online. One thing I noticed is the price. Why the bookstores here have to […]

Yes, that’s what I have been doing on my free time lately. Thanks to my lack of digital camera now I can really think about what I was, what I am, and what I will be doing.
Will I still have my current job next year? Two years from now? Five or more years? I have […]
